Dance, theatre, film... These disciplines have crossed the path of this singer more than once during her career. And they do so once more in a creative laboratory run by artists from different backgrounds that is a celebration of interdisciplinarity.

Throughout her artistic career, Sílvia Pérez Cruz has contributed her music to theatrical and dance performances, written and performed songs for fiction films and documentaries, and used poetry as the raw material for her compositions. Examples of this are such films as La Noche de 12 Años, directed by Álvaro Brechner; the show Grito Pelao, featuring flamenco dancer Rocío Molina (2018), the music she composed for the play Cyrano, which starred Lluís Homar; or the original music for the award-winning animated film Josep (Aurel, 2020). Based on these and other experiences with different artistic genres, Sílvia Pérez Cruz released Farsa (Género Imposible) last October.

It takes as its title the word “farce” which in fact comes from the French word for “stuffing” which was also used to refer to the short comedies that actors would perform between acts during theatrical performances at the court of Louis XVI. Nowadays, “farce” carries the meaning of “falsehood”; which is why Pérez Cruz uses this word to refer to the duality between what we are in private and what we present to the world, between the apparent wealth and real emptiness that are so typical of our times.

The album now comes to the stage of the Naves del Español at Matadero, not strictly speaking in the form of a concert, more rather as a kind of multidisciplinary experience from which a team of artists from different fields extract a musical spectacle.
