Is life a constant reworking of what we always thought it should have been? Is fatherhood a way to make amends for one’s childhood? What will a child inherit from its parents? Their dependencies? Their submissions? Perhaps a project to reform and improve education can help to avoid these and other sequelae.
Two characters. Two approaches to the decision to become a mother or a father in one’s lifetime, and the responsibilities and sacrifices that this entails.
A man who wants to be a father above all else, just so he can improve on what he received from his own father.
A woman who is quite certain that she does not want to be a mother and suffers the opprobrium of society because of her decision, placing her relationship with her partner on the line.
A seemingly perfect family in the context of a dystopian near future, in which, due to overpopulation, couples who want to become parents have to pass tests with a plastic doll before they are allowed to become parents.
A hyper-realistic doll that plays at being a theatrical convention. A set of dice that locks the characters into the game of what they want or don’t want to be. Two lines of work. The dramatic action and the exposure of the characters’ inner world that invites the audience to reflect. Texts that can correspond to the characters or to anyone listening to them.
