Living Arts International Gathering Africa Moment'21 celebrates this year its 5th edition in the cities of Madrid and Barcelona, an unprecedented edition with a double itinerary, which presents proposals of great innovation and artistic quality by leading figures on the international contemporary scene.

In Madrid, Africa Moment'21 will be held from November 25 to 28 at Naves del Español in Matadero. For the second year, Africa Moment'21 will offer a training program aimed at professionals and a digital section with content accessible from all over the world, in addition to its well-known artistic residencies and scholarships program.

Africa Moment generates spaces for creation and thinking through the body with the aim to transform the performing arts sector towards cultural diversity and inclusion. By transgressing exhibition and training structures, Africa Moment places the work of artists with pioneering artistic practices right at the centre and proposes imaginaries unexplored in our context. This edition Africa Moment'21 will focus on the processes of artistic research, exchange and creation, with hybrid formats that juxtapose the sound universe, performance and visual arts. In addition, the gathering will produce and premiere new works by both national and international artists that will later be distributed across the performing arts circuits throughout the state.

This event is promoted by Asociación Africa Moment, founded by Angel Fulla, a Cameroonian dedicated to green building through his African Angara project. Living Arts International Gathering Africa Moment is directed by the choreographer and curator Aïda Colmenero Dïaz, recently awarded by the Pina Bausch Foundation.

Africa Moment'21 is funded by the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Spanish Government, the Culture Department of the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Institute of Culture of the Barcelona City Council, Teatro el Español - Naves del Español en Matadero, Portuguese Consulate in Barcelona, Iberescena, Procultura, Casa Africa; the sponsorship of the Spanish National Commission for Cooperation with UNESCO; and the collaboration of Centro de Creación de Danza y Artes Vivas el Graner, Filmoteca de Catalunya, Hangar, F.O.C, Ateneu 9barris, Jokkoo Collective, Top Manta and Emprendo Danza.
