Flores y viajes is based on the book Viatges i flors, by Mercè Rodoreda. Considered by critics as a minor work, it was published in 1980 on her return from an exile that had kept her away from Spain for 30 years. The book was finished just after her return from exile in France.

Viatges i flors has many parallels with Leonora Carrington’s book Milk of Dreams. It seeks to offer the spectator a feminine vision of the world, through the eyes and words of the writer on such universal themes as war, the post-war period, motherhood (she has a schizophrenic son whom she leaves in the care of her own mother when she flees into exile), nature and its relationship with humans (in many of her stories the women are post-human, half nature, half woman) and the male gender, very present in her work due to its absence ( men are always away, at war).

In the text that serves as inspiration to talk about these themes, practically only women and children appear, men are mentioned, but they are never actually there.

On this occasion, the audience enters an empty, neutral space, which gradually evolves over the course of the play (about 40-50 minutes) to end up constructing a “world” as the sum of many worlds.

The scenic space is constructed as the play unfolds: you enter a space that is empty and you leave one that is full.
