Is the division into genders a cultural construct? What does it mean to be a woman? What does it mean to be a man?

In this last piece in the trilogy on women, identity and history, we have focused on the life path of a young transgender woman, Raphaëlle Pérez. The production is based on her real gender reassignment experience: a road marked by struggle, the search for identity, self-affirmation; by the breaking of moulds and by dreams. Despite having been born in one of the most advanced countries in Europe, France, Raphaëlle’s life has not been, is not, and perhaps will never be, easy. Her courage and her aspirations and disappointments speak to us directly.

Raphaëlle gives us a perspective, somewhere between rational and emotive, on a world in the midst of transformation, on social struggles and victories, on minorities, on the education we receive and, ultimately, on the roles we assume or are forced to assume.
